Throughout its history the Ohio Valley Woodturners Guild has been fortunate to have dedicated people equip, operate, and maintain our audio visual equipment. This was done by John Richey for many years and more recently by Jacob Weakley. Unfortunately, Jacob has informed me that he will no longer be able to perform this important function. I hope you will join me in thanking Jacob for his efforts in providing excellent AV coverage for our monthly meetings as well as for our biennial symposia.
Having said that, I want to let you know that we are now in need of someone to step up and take on the responsibility of AV Coordinator. While the demands of this position are sporadic (monthly meetings and biennial symposia), it is crucial that we have a dedicated person who makes sure that we have the proper equipment and that it is in good working condition. The person who accepts this responsibility is expected to supervise the AV operation at monthly meetings and symposia and train others to fill in when he/she is not available. If you have some background in this area, an interest to learn and a willingness to help, or know of someone who might be a good fit for the job please contact me (jw.warner455@gmail.com or 513235-7099) at your earliest convenience.
While I have your attention, I want to remind you that the OVWG is an all volunteer organization - we have no employees. Therefore, it is critical that we have participation from our members. Many of the tasks that need to be done are not dependent on your being a great turner. So, if you have some time that you can give and want to get involved, I encourage you to contact me or one of the other Board members. We have several standing committees where your time and talents can be used.
Thanks,
Jerry Warner
