Turning 2017 is our biennial Symposium. It has grown into one of the best regional symposiums in the USA. It is unique from other regional symposiums in that it is held in a rural setting away from the usual hassle of a city hotel or conference center. Our location in eastern Indiana at the Higher Ground Conference Center fosters an intimacy not found at other symposiums. There is an on-site lodge, dorm facilities, RV park and campground as well as national chain hotels within a few minutes drive. Attendees enjoy tasty meals in a spacious dining hall where they can discuss the events of the day, get to know the demonstrators and fellow turners and sometimes see local wildlife just outside the windows, all while enjoying their meals.

We always have an excellent line-up of Featured Demonstrators as well a some very talented Guest Demonstrators to entertain and educate you. There will also be a goodly number of vendors to ply you with their goodies and tempt you with tools and wood that you just can't do without. The icing on the cake is the Instant Gallery stocked with your very own creations in every imaginable configuration. You won't want to miss the Saturday night Banquet and Auction. They are great fun and a good way to stock up on all things woodturning. It's a chance for fellow turners to collect artwork and items that are otherwise not easily acquired. You may want to donate something to the auction as all the proceeds help the OVWG provide this symposium as well as our other programs throughout the year.

Don't forget to bring your non-turning significant other. As in past years the craft room will be available for use by those who need a place to pursue other interests including sewing, quilting, knitting and other crafts of their choice. Tables, chairs and power are available. Bring your own equipment and supplies. If you can bring a presentation and share a project or technique that you particularly like I'm sure it would be enjoyed and appreciated. The craft room is for sharing fun and fellowship with no agenda. A visit to one or more quilt/craft shops is likely to happen. (See below.)

You won't be disappointed if you choose to join us for this fabulous 3 day event. Our symposium is small enough to be intimate and large enough to have the cream of the crop for demonstrators and vendors. When available you can click the "Register Now" button and begin the journey to a great weekend. We hope to see you there.

If you have questions about the Symposium feel free to contact one of our Symposium Co-Chairmen, either  KC Kendall, or  John Albachten .

More information will follow on this page. Stay tuned. Check back often.

Dear “Crafters”!

As in other years, there will be a ‘craft’ room set aside for knitters, quilters, needle workers, and visitors too!   Craft or no craft please feel free to join us at the craft room anytime during the Symposium.  Tables and chairs will be available for our use, conversation will be interesting and fun and projects will be worked on!

There are some good quilt shops in the Indiana/Ohio region.  If you are interested in a bit of ‘shopping’ or you simply want to get away to look at fabrics, yarn, etc., we are planning a road trip to a shop or shops in the area.  Decisions on where to travel to be made by the crafters from a list of shops at the symposium!

Any questions, or suggestions for the 2017 symposium ‘craft room’, feel free to call or e-mail me. I may or may not have your answers!
